Part A

Medicare Part A, also known as Hospital Insurance, helps pay for inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, and some home health care.

Part B

Medicare Part B helps cover medical services like doctors' services, outpatient care, and other medical services that Part A doesn't cover.

Part D

A prescription drug plan (PDP) is a health insurance plan that helps people pay for prescription drugs and medications. PDP’s are supplemental plans that cover prescriptions only, and are available through private insurance companies.

Advantage Plans

A Medicare Advantage Plan, also known as Part C or MA, is a private company-offered health plan that provides Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance) coverage. These plans are alternative to original Medicare and can also include Part D (prescription drug coverage). Advantage plans may also offer additional benefits, such as vision, hearing, dental, and health/wellness programs.

Supplemental Plans

A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is a health insurance policy that helps pay for some of the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. These costs include deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments. Medigap is sold by private companies and is available in standardized policies named by letters such as Plans A-N. The benefits of each plan are the same, regardless of which company sells it, but the price may vary.
